Kuttanad Assembly constituency comprises the following areas of Alappuzha district in the Travancore region of Kerala: Champakkulam, Edathua, Kainakary, Kavalam, Muttar, Nedumudi, Neelamperoor, Pulinkunnu, Ramankary, Thakazhy, Thalavady and Veliyanad Panchayats in Kuttanad Taluk and Veeyapuram Panchayat in Karthikappally Taluk.

This constituency covers an approximate area of 327 square kilometers and the geographic coordinates of Kuttanad is: 9°26'32.6"N 76°26'29.8"E.

According to data released by the Election Commission of India, In 2021, this seat registered a turnout of 72.25%, while it was 78.76% in 2016, and 78.64% in 2011.

In the 2021 Kerala Assembly elections, Thomas K Thomas of NCP won in this constituency beating Adv Jacob Abraham of KEC by a margin of 5516 votes which was 4.41% of the total votes cast. In 2016, Thomas Chandy of NCP was the winner in this seat beating Adv.Jacob Abraham of KCM by a margin of 4891 votes which was 3.76% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Thomas Chandy of NCP won this seat defeating Dr.K.C.Joseph of KCM by a margin of 7971 votes which was 6.75% of the total votes polled for the seat.
