In 2016, Ashis Chakraborty (Nanti) of TMC was the winner in this seat beating Sorforaj Khan of CPIM by a margin of 61157 votes which was 32.58% of the total votes polled in the constituency. In the 2011 Assembly elections, Ghosh Susanta of CPIM won this seat defeating Hema Choubey of INC by a margin of 15070 votes which was 9.15% of the total votes polled for the seat.
